Category: Comparisons
Compare Jacques Torres Scary Duo and Large Jacques O Lantern chocolates to decide which Halloween treat fits your party, gifting, or decorating needs.
Quick answer
Choose the Scary Duo if you want a showstopping pair of ghost and bat chocolates for gifting or a centerpiece. Pick the Large Jacques O Lantern if you need affordable, hollow chocolate pumpkins for party favors or decorating.
Size and weight differences matter
The Scary Duo stands 13 inches tall and weighs nearly 4 pounds, making it a substantial gift or table centerpiece. The Large Jacques O Lantern is 7.5 inches tall and hollow, so it's lighter and easier to handle for multiple favors or decorations.
If you plan to hand out treats to many guests, the Jacques O Lantern's lower price and lighter weight let you buy several without breaking your budget. For a single impressive gift, the Scary Duo carries more visual and physical heft.
Flavor options affect your choice
Both chocolates come in dark or milk chocolate, but the Scary Duo also offers a white/dark combination. White chocolate appeals to those who prefer sweeter, creamier flavors, while milk and dark suit traditional tastes.
If your guests or recipients have varied preferences, the Scary Duo's white option gives you a distinct alternative not available with the Jacques O Lantern.
In-store only purchase requirement
Both products are available exclusively at Jacques Torres Chocolate's New York City stores. You cannot order them online for delivery. This is important if you're not local or planning to ship gifts.
If you can't visit a store, neither item will work. Consider other Jacques Torres Halloween offerings that ship nationwide, or plan a trip to NYC.
How to decide between Scary Duo and Jacques O Lantern
- For a single impressive gift: Choose the Scary Duo. Its ghost and bat pair, large size, and nearly 4-pound weight make it a standout present for a Halloween host or chocolate lover.
- For party favors or multiple decorations: Choose the Large Jacques O Lantern. Its lower price and lighter hollow design let you buy several to hand out or place around your home.
- If flavor variety is key: Choose the Scary Duo if you want white chocolate as an option. The Jacques O Lantern is limited to dark or milk. White chocolate fans will only find it in the Scary Duo.
- If you need to ship or order online: Neither product works because both are in-store only. Look for other Jacques Torres Halloween items that ship nationwide. Plan a store visit or choose a shippable alternative.
